Lab Managers Networking Group
A Lab Managers Networking Group has been established on LinkedIn to foster communication among ALMA members. All ALMA members are invited to join the group which is limited to members. The group provides the opportunity for ALMA members to ask questions, share ideas and experiences and network with peers across laboratories in industry, academia and government across the globe. It is a unique networking capability exclusive to laboratory managers.
Members can send out questions to their peers seeking information on instrumentation, approaches to lab management and personnel problems and issues, contacts for getting contract analyses done, etc. Members can share their experiences on these questions and issues. There is no obligation for members to respond if they have nothing to share. Those who can’t contribute to a specific discussion can learn by “listening.”
The network is not intended for commercial promotions of any kind.
Examples of appropriate Uses of the Lab Managers Network:
- Requests for suggestions on how to solve or approach a technical problem
- Requests for suggestions on how to solve a lab management or personnel problem
- Suggestions of vendors for instruments, service and contract analyses
- Experience with instruments and services

Lab Managers Electronic Roundtable
In recognition of the value that roundtable discussions have brought to the ALMA annual conferences an “electronic roundtable” forum has been set up on LinkedIn to give members an opportunity to share ideas and best practices, ask questions and learn. Pertinent lab management topics for on-line discussion will be posted bi-monthly. Summaries of the roundtables will be posted on the ALMA website
