ALMA Lab Managers Discussion Forum

An email listserver is maintained to foster communication among ALMA members. Any messages sent to labmanagers@yahoogroups.com will be distributed to all members of the list. This list is open to ALMA members and other interested parties in the laboratory management community.

Members can send out questions to their peers seeking information on instrumentation, approaches to lab management and personnel problems and issues, contacts for getting contract analyses done, etc. Other members can share their experiences on these questions and issues. Others who can’t contribute to a specific discussion can learn by listening.

You may not mail to this list unless you are a member of it. The list is not intended for commercial promotions of any kind.

There are two ways to join the list:

  1. Join on the web using your Yahoo ID:

    Visit groups.yahoo.com/group/labmanagers and join. By default, mail from labmanagers@yahoogroups.com will be sent to your Yahoo mailbox. Follow these steps to have it sent to your regular mail instead:

    • Add your regular email account to your Yahoo profile:
    • Select your regular account for labmanagers:
      • Using your browser, go to groups.yahoo.com/mygroups.
      • Click on “Edit My Groups.”
      • In the column labeled “Email Address,” select your regular mail address.
  2. Join by Email:

    Send an email to

    You will receive a confirmation email. Once you reply to the confirmation you will be part of the group. You won’t be part of the group until you reply.

To use the list, send questions to labmanagers@yahoogroups.com. The server will automatically distribute your email messsage to everyone who is a member of the list at that time. (It will also archive the message for future reference by anyone who is a member of the list at any time in the future.) List members can respond directly to the person asking the question or send their response to all list members. There is no obligation for members to respond if they have nothing to share.
