Environmental Engineering Laboratory and Instrumentation Manager
Michigan Technological University is seeking an Environmental Engineering Laboratory and Instrumentation Manager. This position will support the teaching and research activities of the Environmental Engineering Program in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Geospatial Engineering (CEGE). The position will advance the strategic goals of the Department and University including creating high-impact undergraduate programs, growing and strengthening graduate programs, and developing strong and sustainable research programs. This position will promote the safe and effective operation of these activities. This position will report to the Chair of the CEGE Department. The Environmental Engineering Laboratory and Instrumentation Manager will work closely with the Environmental Engineering faculty to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. The position requires a B.S. degree in environmental or chemical engineering, chemistry, or related field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience or an M.S. degree in one of the above fields.
To be successful in this position, the applicant must have a demonstrated ability to operate/maintain a wide range of analytical equipment and instruments (e.g., gas and liquid chromatography, spectrometry and spectrophotometry, microscopy, and/or polymerase chain reaction-based instruments). Also necessary is a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries, and interface well with diverse members of the scientific research and education community, including students, staff, and faculty.
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan Tech includes 31 faculty, 20 professional staff, 100 full-time graduate students, and over 500 undergraduate majors.
